The renovated Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas
City, Missouri was dedicated February 22, 2003. Newly designed
liturgical furnishings and classical architectural elements were
installed in a reconfigured worship space that serves both parish
and diocese functions. An extensive educational program reached
throughout the diocese.

cathedral has elements of old, new symbolism
KANSAS CITY - Parishioners and the curious will find big changes
in the newly renovated Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
and, "I think they'll like them," said Carol Frenning,
consultant to the renovation project.

Carved into the new altar are depictions of
wheat and grapes, reflecting both the elements of the Eucharist
and the agricultural heritage of the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese.
